Life After Grease is a new documentary catching up with those involved in the much-loved 1970s musical feature. And it needs your help!
Filmmaker Lisa Downs has gradually been building up quite the collection of movie nerd documentaries. She’s made Life After Flash, Life After The Navigator and Life After The Neverending Story to date, where she tracks down those involved in Flash Gordon, Flight Of The Navigator and The Neverending Story and brings their stories up to date.
Her next project? Life After Grease, which – as the title suggests – sees her talking to those involved in the movie, and capturing their stories. She’s already got Grease director Randal Kleiser involved, and has filmed interviews with assorted members of the cast and crew.
There are still some interviews to capture, and the film to edit into shape, and so Lisa – as an independent filmmaker – has launched a Kickstarter to help her raise the £20,000 she needs to get the film done. At the time of this piece being written, she’s about a quarter of the way there, and as with any independent movie production, any amplification of her efforts is hugely appreciated.
To whet your appetite for what she’s up to, she’s got a trailer together for Life After Grease, that looks like this.
The fundraising page for Life After Grease, which gives you a lot more information on the project, can be found here.
And the official synopsis reads:
LIFE AFTER GREASE is the latest feature documentary in the LIFE AFTER MOVIES series. With more interviews shot beyond this teaser, and more to go, LIFE AFTER GREASE will celebrate Randal Kleiser’s 1978 classic starring Olivia Newton-John and John Travolta. With interviews with T-Birds Barry Pearl, Michael Tucci, Kelly Ward and Pink Ladies Didi Conn, Jamie Donnelly and Dinah Manoff, plus so many more!
Further Life After films are in the works as well, with movies on Goodfellas and The Goonies currently amongst those on the slate. More, as always, as we hear it.
